Thanks to Jessica S. for hosting another Midwest Wine Club last night. I believe our ornament exchange was a big hit, although I think the wine took a third place to all the food and ornaments. And maybe even a fourth place to Gavin, the only boy we would even think of allowing into wine club. He was the perfect gentleman and behaved himself so nicely! What a cutie, Kimi!
We all exchanged ornaments in the Yankee swap fashion, or naughty Santa, or whatever you call it when you get to steal someone's gift from them. There were some favorites among the bunch, like disco ball bird and the owl (of course with a bunch of Chi-Os). It looks great on my tree, by the way. : ) And although, maybe not a favorite among everyone, I'm sure Jessica B. is enjoying her chocolate ornament, Katie!
Thanks to everyone for coming, it was the biggest turn out yet. It was great to see everyone before things get too hectic with the holidays. A safe and happy holiday season to everyone in the Midwest and West Coast wine clubs! See you next year! Oh, and let the group know if anyone want's to host January's event.

Midwest Wine Club moves to facebook!
Hi everyone!
We've created a facebook group for those of us in the Windy City just to make it easier to communicate about our wine club events. Google Groups does not seem to be very compatible with people checking mail on a Blackberry. And everyone pretty much uses facebook, right? Someone came up with this great idea last night at our October wine club meeting which was hosted by Jen, sort of last minute. So click on the title of this and it will take you to the facebook link.
Thanks to Jen for hosting! Your chicken, cream cheese, BBQ, cheese dip was awesome. We didn't really have a theme, so we ended up with an interesting mix. We had a bottle of Bar Harbor, Maine's finest red, a couple other reds, a Chardonnay that tasted sort of like apple juice, and a rose that sort of tasted like a port. All interesting!
Hope to see some of you on the facebook group!
Cheers!

Midwest (Chicago) October Wine Club
Hi everyone,
Since no one has expressed their desire to host our October excuse-to-hang-out-and-drink, I thought I would propose a host; The Bluebird wine bar at 1749 N. Damen. (also beer and a full bar for those non-wine drinkers, plus I'm sure they can make some fun "virgin" drinks for those of you who can't have booze). Oct. 21st at 7:30 sound ok? If there is another day that week that might work better, let me know. Wednesday might not be a bad idea since it might be less crowded. Please let me know if another day might work best for everyone and I'll repost the date and see who can make it. Don't forget to forward it onto your friends who aren't on the list.
Thanks!
Kristine

Recap of September Spice
Thanks to Jessica for hosting the September Midwest Wine Club "meeting." A great time was had by all....all 3 of us! While still fun with just a few of us, as they say, the more the merrier! Hopefully we'll see some more of you in October! So I'm not sure if Jessica and Jen would agree, but my favorite wine was Jen's contribution, which, sorry, I have no idea what it was called. Jen, do you? It think it was from the Cote-du-Rhone region though. Jessica did a great job on the food, and I loved the veggie pizza she made (feel free to share the recipe with every one Jessica), and the spicy garbonzo bean salad.
So any volunteers to host October's Midwest Wine Club? We typically try to aim for the third thursday of the month, which would be October 21st, but this is a flexible date if it doesn't work for our hostess, whomever she may be!
Thanks!
